The recognition was part of the 11th edition of the Islamic Revolution Art Week, which acknowledged his significant contributions to revolutionary and cinematic music during its closing ceremony held on Sunday evening at the Andisheh Hall of the Tehran Art Bureau.
In addition to the Artist of the Year award, the ceremony also presented several other honors, including the Lifetime Achievement in Revolutionary Art award and the International Resistance Art Award.
The program featured live performances by a symphonic orchestra and a choir ensemble.
A particularly moving segment included a video tribute with remarks from Homayounfar, followed by an on-stage commendation from acclaimed filmmaker Ebrahim Hatamikia.
"Cinema owes much of its power to music," Hatamikia stated during his speech.
He added, "Music elevates films, and Karen Homayounfar has soared to great heights in this field. At times, as a director, I find myself left behind by the soaring trajectory of his work."
Homayounfar is widely recognized for his impressive film scores, which have played a pivotal role in shaping the emotional landscape of Iranian cinema over the past two decades.
